
Leona Louise (born on April 3, 1986) is a singer from America as well as songwriter, actress and performer. She was raised in the London Borough of Islington and took classes at Croydon's BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology. Lewis gained national attention by winning the third series of The X Factor in 2006 and was awarded a PS1 million recording deal together with Syco Music. The song she was awarded that was a cover of Kelly Clarkson's hit song "A Moment like This," had 50,000 downloads within 30 minutes , and reached the top spot for four weeks. In February 2007, Lewis has signed a deal for five albums with the United States with Clive Davis's record label, J Records. Lewis has continued to be successful by releasing Spirit which was her debut studio album. It reached platinum status 10 times over certified in the UK. This album became the fourth most-sold album in 2000, and was also one of the top-selling UK albums. Spirit According to Official Charts Company is the greatest-selling debut album by a female musician. The UK's number-one single, Bleeding Love, remained at no. one for seven weeks, and was the most popular single in 2007, as per the Official Charts Corporation. The track was also the top-selling track in the US the same year. Lewis won the Billboard Best New Artist Award next year. In 2009, she debuted her sophomore studio album, Echo, and recorded the song that served as the soundtrack, "I See You", for the film Avatar. In 2011, Lewis released the single "Collide" in collaboration alongside Swedish DJ Avicii along with her debut extended-play, Hurt: The EP. Glassheart (2012) is her 3rd studio release. She took inspiration from dubstep and electronic music. The Glassheart Tour was in the mid-year of 2013, and she began recording music for her debut Christmas album. The album Christmas, With Love came out in the latter half of 2013. The lead track One More Sleep was a top 3 hit on the charts in the UK. Lewis is an British female solo artist, was the first female artist to reach the Top Five with eight singles. The record is higher than Olivia Newton John's seven-year record.
